frequently asked questions
  • Pack for mountain weather. Days can be warm and mornings and evenings can be cool, and conditions can change quickly at elevation. Bring a waterproof rain jacket, sturdy shoes or boots, wool or synthetic socks, and layering pieces. A wide brim hat and polarized sunglasses are strongly recommended because the sun is intense at altitude. If you plan to visit the hot springs in Pagosa Springs, bring a swimsuit.

  • Our cabins are well stocked for a comfortable stay. Kitchens are fully equipped with cookware, dishes, and basic essentials. Each cabin has a propane grill outside. Most homes have high speed Wi Fi, and many include a printer. You will also find books, board games, and simple entertainment for downtime. All cabins include a washer and dryer.

  • Our ranches sit at approximately 8,000 to 8,500 feet. Most guests feel slightly sluggish or winded during the first 24 hours. Drink plenty of water, keep the first day relaxed, and you will typically acclimate quickly. Oxygen can be available upon request.

  • Yes. All fishing on Lindner Ranches private water is guided. Artificial flies only, barbless hooks required, and catch and release only. Handle fish carefully and return them to the water promptly. Please review our Anglers Advisory for full rules and regulations.

  • One guide is required for every two guests fishing.

  • A 9 foot 4 weight or 5 weight rod with a floating line is ideal for most situations. Some anglers like bringing a second setup, but it is not required.

  • Bring the personal items you normally fish with, including a hat, polarized sunglasses, leader and tippet, waders, wading boots, and a pack or vest. If you plan to do any fishing outside of guided time, a rubber or catch and release friendly net is required.

  • Yes. The ranch and our guides have high quality fly rods and reels available, along with a limited selection of waders and wading boots. Guests are encouraged to bring their own gear for the best fit and comfort, but we can supplement equipment if needed. Sizes and availability are limited, so please let us know in advance. Additional items can also be rented locally through Let It Fly in Pagosa Springs.

  • Your guide will provide flies matched to conditions each day. If you would like to bring your own favorites, common staples work well. Dry flies like Adams, caddis patterns, hoppers, and stimulators in sizes 12 to 18 are great. For subsurface, bead head princes, stonefly patterns, and hare’s ear style nymphs are a strong start.

  • Yes. Colorado requires a current fishing license for all anglers, even on private water. Licenses can be purchased online through Colorado Parks and Wildlife or locally in Pagosa Springs, including at Let It Fly.

  • No, hunting is not allowed on the ranch.

  • For the safety of your pet and our livestock, we ask that you leave your dog at home.
