A Secluded Wilderness Sanctuary & Six Miles of Private Water
Exclusive fly fishing for trophy trout on the edge of the 500,000-acre Weminuche Wilderness.
The Weminuche Valley Ranch
The most secluded of the Lindner Ranches, Weminuche Valley Ranch (WVR) sits on 1,700 acres at the end of a winding dirt road, about an hour from Pagosa Springs. Surrounded on three sides by the 500,000 acre Weminuche Wilderness, guests are wrapped in a lush alpine valley that feels truly untouched. WVR offers six miles of private water on the Weminuche River and Weminuche Creek, a name rooted in the Ute term for winding river, where healthy populations of rainbow and brown trout thrive. With its wild character and low pressure fishing, it’s the kind of place that makes every cast feel like you’re the first one there.
Two cabins, set roughly two miles apart, are positioned to take in sweeping 180 degree views of the valley. Reserving access to both gives your group flexibility and space, whether you want to spread out, reconnect, or simply unplug in total quiet. Over the years, WVR has welcomed everything from die hard anglers chasing an unforgettable week to corporate retreats and team gatherings looking for privacy, fresh air, and a real sense of perspective.
Beyond the river, the ranch provides direct access to the trail system of the Weminuche Wilderness, a federally protected backcountry reachable only by foot or horseback. This is classic San Juan country, rugged and remote, home to the Needle Mountains and the Grenadier Range, and the largest of Colorado’s designated wilderness areas. The result is a rare edge of the world experience, defined by solitude, big mountain views, and the kind of awe that’s hard to put into words.
The Lodge
The Lodge blends modern comfort with classic mountain character and sleeps up to 14 guests, with four private bedrooms plus a dormitory-style room featuring four twin beds. Perched high at the top of the valley and backing up to the Weminuche Wilderness, it delivers that rare “edge of the world” feeling—wide-open views, quiet, and nothing but wild country behind you.
Inside, you’ll find four working fireplaces—one in the downstairs bedroom, one in the living room, one in the master suite, and one tucked into the breakfast nook off the kitchen—perfect for warming up after a full day on the water. Two decks invite you outside: one off the living room for sunsets and gathering, and a private deck off the master suite for a little extra breathing room. Add Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, and full laundry, and you’ve got everything you need to settle in and stay comfortable all week.

The Ludwig Cabin
Built in 1908, the Ludwig Cabin is a historic homesteader cabin that’s been thoughtfully renovated while keeping its cozy, old west soul. With four bedrooms and three full baths, it’s an ideal fit for more intimate groups of 5 to 7, blending rustic charm with a little western attitude.
One of the highlights is the added-on master suite, complete with a spacious bathroom and a soaking tub—perfect for easing tired legs after a full day outside. The kitchen is fully functional and intentionally “vintage” in the best way, with an ’80s-era refrigerator, stove, and microwave that match the cabin’s character (no dishwasher here). You’ll also have Wi-Fi and full laundry, plus a working fireplace and a deck that’s made for morning coffee and sunset views over the Weminuche Valley and the San Juan mountain range.
