A Historic Riverfront Hideaway on The East Fork of the Piedra

Two classic log cabins nestled beneath stone palisades with over two miles of private water and wild brown trout.

The Notch Ranch

The Notch Ranch is a true jewel—a historic Colorado ranch set along the banks of the East Fork of the Piedra River, right on the rim of the dramatic palisades that define the valley. The Piedra is a technically challenging, two mile trout stream that has been painstakingly brought back to its original glory, and it rewards anglers with strong numbers of wild brown trout in the 12 to 16 inch range, with the occasional rainbow and cutthroat mixed in.

Tucked into a venerable stand of Ponderosa pines—some more than 400 years old—The Notch Ranch offers two cabins close to one another: Notch Lodge and Skunk Cabin. Each features a new patio that’s perfect for lingering under the dark night sky, swapping stories around a campfire, and unwinding after a day on the water—whether you spent it on the Piedra or exploring all 10 miles of private water across the Lindner Ranches.

The Notch Lodge

The Notch Lodge is a classic Old West log cabin with soaring ceilings and timbers that were once rough but have been worn smooth over time. Inside, the open floor plan includes a spacious living room, a full kitchen, three bedrooms, and two and a half bathrooms. Modern comforts like cable, Wi Fi, and a washer and dryer make it easy to settle in and enjoy the best of both worlds. The Notch Lodge accommodates up to 8 guests comfortably across three bedrooms.

The Skunk Cabin

Recently renovated, Skunk Cabin is the smaller, more minimal option at The Notch Ranch—perfect for guests who want a simple, comfortable place to unplug. With a tighter footprint than Notch Lodge, it’s intentionally pared back in the best way, creating a calm, quiet atmosphere that makes it easy to step away from the noise and settle into ranch life.

Inside, you’ll find a classic log-cabin feel with rustic vaulted ceilings that keep the space open and airy. Two bedrooms and one full bathroom make it an ideal fit for couples, a small family, or a few friends, and it comfortably sleeps four. Skunk Cabin delivers the creature comforts that matter—cozy warmth, a clean and updated interior, and an easygoing layout—so your days can stay focused on the river, the pines, and the deep quiet that makes The Notch feel so special.

Exclusive Ranch Buyout

A full ranch buyout includes exclusive access to the private water, plenty of room for hiking and exploring the surrounding national forest, and the kind of quiet that only comes with true seclusion. It’s a complete, unhurried ranch experience designed around your people, your pace, and your time together.
